Meet Molly. She is looking for her new home due to circumstances beyond and and her present owners control. Molly came into rescue late last year and after numerous vet appointments and tests it was found she has spinabifida. She is still a very active girl just needs someone very special as her new hooman. She is 18 months old. she is wearing nappies and needs changing regularly as well as cleaning her skin. She also needs to be shaved around the area to ensure she doesn’t end up with urine burns. This is what her owner says about her Molly is great. A normal Springer. A bit of a tart with the boys. Big and strong, she wears size 4+ nappies now. Loves her runs, loves water. Don’t have to express her. She is on forthglade chicken only. Poos once a day normally on her morning run. Which we normally do without nappy. She is up to date on worming and flea treatment. She goes to a groomer every 8 weeks to keep tail and bum area easier to clean. Loves the bed……probably too much, happy to be in cage too. Travels well in car. I change her 3/4 daily. Once organised a 2 minute job. As long as she has not eaten anything she shouldn’t have she is relatively clean. She is better with women than men. No young children. Meet Jess, a gorgeous black GSD approaching 1 year old. Jess is a typical GSD and is very vocal, she greets visitors well albeit it very excitedly. Jess loves to chase a ball although hasn't grasped dropping it yet so a second ball is needed. If she is playing ball she isn't interested in other dogs. She will interact with other dogs but can be nervous until she feels confident. Once confident she can be a bit full on but if told will listen. The reason for rehome is due to some guarding issues with the owner and her children, Jess has nipped the children. For this reason any children must be teenager age and dog savvy. Jess can be left for up to 3 hours and does not show separation anxiety. Jess would be fab given a job whether that be scent work or agility. Meet Dolly she is looking for her furever home. Could it be you. Dolly is 2 years old. She is a typical great dane, playful, clumsy and super needy! She is the cuddliest dog you will ever meet and her idea of heaven is a blanket and some cuddles. She is brilliant both off lead and on, although she can be too friendly sometimes and run at other dogs to say hello. She adores children and is a natural daddy's girl. At home she is pretty lazy other than a few burns of energy where she will bring you her toy to either tug or throw. She likes to play rough with her daddy and sounds very growly, when in reality she is barely touching you. She sometimes gets sore ears, the vets have told us some dogs are just more prone to ear infections. We keep on top of this with boiled water and cotton pads. We've had every treatment under the sun and it just makes it worse. But she's a good girl and will let you clean them. She sits, gives you her paw. No to dolly is "ah ah" this is her command to stop. She is a real person dog and thrives on attention and affection. She won't like to be left for long, although as she gets older she is sleeping more so probably won't mind. When out on walks dolly's command is "come!" In a higher pitch. dolly hates going out in the rain but will wee on command "go do wee wees" and she knows what she has to do. However on walks if she has a coat she'll be out in the rain and snow and jumping in rivers. Dolly needs to return to our vet to be spayed. Meet beautiful LUNA who is looking for her furever home. She would be happy with an elderly person who has a garden she can play in. This is what was written about her by the person currently looking after her. Luna's owner died and there was no-one who could look after her, so she doesn't really belong to anyone for now. We have been looking after her for a few months and "rehabbing" her as she was in a bad way as her owner was too ill to care for her properly and the abcesses in her mouth made her unable to eat properly. After extensive dental work her mouth is completely healed and I am introducing a bit of crunch to her soft food which she is enjoying. She is learning to overcome her fear of eating due to pain but will need patience as moving home might set her back a bit. I have developed a few tricks and tips I can pass on. She is building up her strength again with short walks and pottering round the garden. I don't think she was ever taken for walks or left alone much in the past few years as her owner was elderly and not in good health. She is very trusting however though very sensitive and if ever told she is bad (eg for jumping on the chair and barking out the window )will be very distressed, fortunately this isn't usually necessary as she so wants to please, a gentle no or even "ah" will stop her. Exception is when seeing/hearing other dogs when fear will override and being a terrier fight overrules flight and she will bark and run towards, not away from what she fears. She is gradually learning that she doesn't need to bark as she is safe with us and calming down more quickly. She is one of the most loveable dogs we have had (and there have been many!) and if our lifestyle permitted we would love to keep her. I am very sad to let her go and trust that you will find her a loving and patient owner to continue her recovery from a difficult few months. Luna will bring a lot of love and joy into someone's life. Luna plays happily with children as young as 6 as long as they are children that understand dogs. She is very happy to greet anyone that comes in the house. Normally she is very attentive and so easy to live with and willing to please. She is continuing to make progress here, tonight only little "wuffs" at tv rather than barking at horses, coming when called, going to toilet on command (her housetraining has been perfect here despite losing it before she came), sit, wait, leave, giving paw, learning to wait before going through doors, going to her bed, playing hide and seek with treats and toys etc. She can fetch ball or toy and knows the fetch command. I am an 11-year old very sweet-natured Jack Russell Terrier looking for a quiet and cosy home. Milo is a Caucasian/Germam Shepherd Cross and has an amazing personality. He is a very playful boy, his favourite games are Fetch (without the bring back part) and Don’t Touch My Paws (if you touch his paws his play mode activates and he will give you mouth hugs). Milo does not know how big he is when he plays however and thinks of himself as a tiny puppy. Milo gets very defensive around other dogs and can growl at them if they are too close. He often walks off lead which he loves, but needs to always be on lead around other dogs. He can pull on the lead, but not that often, and will happily walk by you with regular sniffing breaks. Milo knows his place around food. He will patiently wait for his person to give him permission to eat. This can make further training easier. Milo believes he can protect his hoomans from cats. He will ensure your garden is 100% cat free. If he sees a cat while walking, he will pull on his lead a LOT until he is sure the area is safe from any cat. Milo is great at being left in the house and does not have any issues with separation anxiety. So, if you are out for the evening, he will normally just have a snooze on the sofa until you’re back. Milo gets extremely excited and barky when anyone is at the door. He is working on acting better here but still has a way to go. Milo is a very loving boy. He wants to be close to his hooman, particularly when on the couch. He will gladly offer his fluffy belly for rubs or warm your feet with his head. This is our little Peggy Sue. She is nearly two and a half years old. This is what her foster carer says about her Peggy has been a delight to look after, she is very easy going and likes nothing more than pottering around the house and garden keeping you company. She happily travels in a car. She is house trained. She enjoys going out for walks. In the evening she loves to stretch out on a duvet or sit with you and watch telly. She sleeps all night and doesn’t always want to get out of bed she is quite happy to be left for a few hours home alone. She knows the standard sit etc and will do as she is asked indoors. Outdoors is a work in progress that would need to be kept up. She previously lived with another dog and they used to fight so she is now not too keen on other dogs. She acts more like a pot bellied pig likes to lay in puddles (muddy ones) and snores. She needs to go to a home with no other animals at all and any children in the household would need to teenagers. She also needs to be kept on lead when walking and can get quite stressed out if there are too many dogs around on her walk. This is Jake who now is ready to go to his forever home. He needs to go with another dog and any children in the house must be teenagers. This is what the foster carer has to say about him. Jake is an 18 month staffie x whippet who has been with us and our dog for 2 weeks now. He is a boisterous lovely dog who we would describe as a small dog trapped in a big dogs body, he doesn’t quite realise how big he is! He is crate trained, great in the car, great off lead when you have treats/ball and knows a lot of tricks. He is fine being left alone for a few hours and really enjoys having the company of another dog. He is a MASSIVE foodie and will do almost anything to get food, he remembers where you store it and can be a thief of opportunity ? but he is not territorial over food which is great. He loves to go on walks and play with the ball, and is very friendly around dogs but will enjoy a long nap once he’s home. He also sleeps well during the night. He can be alert in new areas and bark to unfamiliar noises but this settles as he gets used to his environment. The perfect home for Jake would be a home with no children (sensible teens may be okay) who enjoys being outdoors a lot. He would also benefit going to a home where he will have another large dog as a companion. He is a lovely dog and a big softie at heart ? Meet Ted our beautiful two and a half year old lurcher. He came into foster as quite a nervous dog, unsure of people and other dogs. In the time he has been with his foster carer he has gained a lot of confidence. This is what his foster carer says about him Ted has gained a lot of confidence and is becoming a loveable character ready to run and play. He now realises that people can be trusted and is fast becoming a people friendly dog. He is still a bit unsure of other dogs but mostly happy to say a quick hello and then get on with his walk. When he is off lead he is very good at keeping with you once he knows you , he does like to run around the woods looking for squirrels but doesn’t go far and always comes back when called. He knows basic commands like sit and will give you his paw. He loves treats and takes them very gently. He also likes a good tug of war game. He likes to stretch out on Most of the sofa ? when relaxing and will come with his favourite blanket that he likes to bury himself under. Once he has had his daily run he is a typical lurcher and is content indoors just being lazy. He is ok home alone for a couple of hours with the radio on to keep him company. He travels happily in a car and enjoys a quiet life. We would not rehome him with children and being a lurcher no small furries or cats. He would suit a couple or single person who enjoy being out and about and could continue with his training and building up his confidence. He walks well on lead and doesn’t pull, but if in a built up area he does look out for cats. Beautiful little Honey came in to Hairy Hounz 7 weeks ago and has been cared for by one of our amazing foster carers. Honey is doubly incontinent and wears a nappy but this doesn't stop her from running and jumping around like a normal puppy. Since she has been in rescue with us, we have raised additional funds to finance a specialist. She has had full scans, blood and urine tests to establish the cause of her disability. She has a very rare case of spina bifida and this is the cause of her incontinence. Although there isn't a cure for her condition, she will be going back to the hospital in a couple of weeks time to have a cystostomy tube inserted to make management of her urine easier and reduce the risk of infection. We are looking for an extra special family for Honey that are willing to dedicate to the extra care that she needs.

Tobi is ready to find his forever home. He s a friendly, sensitive boy and needs a quiet rural/semi-rural home with either a single person or a couple. Tobi finds children too much and any visiting children must be aged over 10. He is an escape artist, so an enclosed garden with min 6ft fences are a must. Tobi would need to be an only dog but has previously lived with a dog savvy cat. He loves going for a walk but much prefers to walk in the forest than on the road as he is anxious with traffic and other dogs. Ghost would prefer an adult home or older teenage children. Although he hasn't lived with other dogs, we feel he may benefit from living with a trained, older dog to follow.
